Gothenburg 30/07/06 SMC: We had a visit at the Somaliweyn Media offices in Hargeysa today from Mr. Abdi Adan Diirye who told us about the political principles of Somali Social Unity Party (SSUP), what they do for the Somali nation and the reasons SSUP was formed.
Mr. Abdi Adan Diiriye told us that Somali Social Unity Party (SSUP) is a political party which stands for upholding the human values as enshrined in the constitution of SSUP and upholding the rule of Law. SSUP is also actively engaged in ensuring the unity of the Somali nation as decreed by the AU and UN charter, also ensuring that the Somali nation lives in respect of the rule of the Law distancing itself from the self-destruction of tribal politics which destroyed the social fabric of the united Somali nation.
Whilst ensuring that the respect for human values, SSUP will always work in the rule of law and work towards being impartial in the disputes between various parties in the country.
The Somali nation as is well known is 100% Muslim and speaks one language which shows the unity of the Somali nation and their interdependency.
Therefore, whilst speaking on behalf of the Somali Social Unity Party (SSUP) I would like to welcome all who are interested to work with SSUP to unite the Somali nation and alleviate the suffering of the Somali nation who live in the country or in the Diaspora. We hope that the nation works with us to bring back the respect of the Somali nation and I am sure with your ideas and opinions we will face a brighter future in unity.
Despite the ugly history that our nation faced for the last 16 years we hope that SSUP will work to ensure that we don’t go back to the dark period in our history. SSUP will work with and for the Somali nation to bring about equality, justice, freedom, power-sharing and good governance.
Mr. Abdi Adan Diiriye as representative of Somali Social Unity Party (SSUP) in Hargeysa concluded his interview at this juncture.
