Somalia appoints a new prime minister

The President of the Somali Government, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appointed Abdi Farah Shirdon to the
premiership of the country after weeks of consultations with the public and members of the Somali Federal Parliament.

President Mohamud expressed confidence in the new prime minister that he will perform well and meet the challenges ahead. “The public have been waiting and are ready to support their Prime Minister. It is a new dawn for Somalia as we wish a success for the prime minister” said President Mohamud.

He added “We look forward that the new prime minister will improve the situation of the country.”

The Speaker of the Parliament, Mohamed Osman Jawaari, welcomed the new Prime Minister and promised to support his administration to move Somalia forward. “We are here to support the prime minister and his government as the parliament is committed to work with him in the next four years,” said Speaker Jawaari.

Shirdon graduated from the Somali National University in 1983 with an economics degree. He worked in the public sector for about two years before starting his successful entrepreneurship career in 1986.

Shirdon brings a range of experience to the job as he represents a fresh and a new patch of leadership that are willing to unite the
country and address the security challenges in Somalia.

الرئيس الصومالي يعين رئيسا جديدا للوزراء

(مقديشو 6 أكتوبر، 2012) عين رئيس جمهورية الصومال حسن شيخ محمود اليوم
السبت عبدي فارح شردون رئيسا جديدا للوزراء بعد أسابيع من إجراء
مشاوراته مع أعضاء البرلمان الصومالي والمجتمع المدني.

وأعرب فخامته عن ثقته برئيس الوزراء الجديد الذي الذي سيتغلب التحديات
المقبلة " وقال:” إن الشعب كان ينتظرك ويرحبونك بحفاوة بالغة”. مشيرا إلى
أن فجرا جديدا قد طلع لجمهورية الصومال متمنيا لرئيس الحكومة النجاح
والتوفيق.

وأضاف "نحن نتطلع إلى أن رئيس الوزراء الجديد والذي سيعمل على تحسين
الوضع في البلاد."
ومن جانبه ثمن ر ئيس البرلمان الصومالي محمد عثمان جواري رئيس الوزراء
الجديد، ووعد بدعم ادارته للتحرك إلى الأمام وقال :" نحن هنا لدعم رئيس
الوزراء وحكومته، ويلتزم البرلمان العمل معه في السنوات الأربع
القادمة".

وتخرج فارح شردون من جامعة الوطنية الصومالية في عام 1983 م، وهو حاصل
على شهادة بكالوريوس في الاقتصاد، وعمل في القطاع العام لمدة عامين قبل
أن ينضم إلى التجارة الحرة عام 1986.

ويتمتع رئيس الوزراء الجديد بخبرة كافية تؤهله في تحمل المسؤولية الكبيرة
الملقاة علي عاتقه لأنه جزء من القيادة الجديدة التي تستعد لتوحيد البلاد
والتصدي للاضطرابات الأمنية في البلاد.
